Free Community Art Classes for All
We offer a variety of community art classes for ages 4 through senior adult. Our classes are drop-in, allowing our students to attend when they want and for as long as they want. Classes are individualized—each student is encouraged to pursue their own goals and ideas through guided exploration. Each student works at their own pace on their own projects with one-on-one guidance from our talented teaching staff, who boast a wide range of knowledge and skills.
Additionally, all of our community classes have been and always will be FREE to attend, including material cost!

Enrollment Open Year Round
All community art classes at Locust Street Art are drop-in, meaning there is no attendance requirement. Students can come to as many or as few classes as they choose!

Additionally, it's never too late to enroll. Enrollment is open year round, and new students are encouraged to come whenever they can, even if it's the middle of the year!
The MollyOlga Method

The main priority of our community art classes is to provide individuals with quality art education that is catered to strengthening their own voices and their own ideas. No student is told what to create. Instead, our instructors work one on one with each student to identify the student's artistic goals and encourage them to achieve through guided exploration.

The following is a quote from Molly Bethel, founder of Locust Street Art:
"The student-artist's job is to work seriously to develop skill at the craft of their chosen media, and to deepen their aesthetic awareness.
As they progress, instruction needs to be on an individual basis. Respect the validity and integrity of each persons creative vision. Each artist must develop their own ways of effectively expressing their ideas visually."
Molly Bethel and Olga Aleksiewicz Lownie, founders of Locust Street Art, formerly known as MollyOlga Neighborhood Art Classes.
Wait, it's really FREE?
YES! Since 1959, it has been our mission to remove financial barriers to quality art education for all. Our classes have been and will always be FREE to all of our students, despite of their true cost. Classes are funded through grants and donations from individuals.
