Supplies to Bring

Mostly, just yourself, we have paper, canvas, paints, pencils, and other materials available for you for free to use. However, we provide basic materials; we encourage anyone who is able to provide their own paints, brushes, or etc to do so. Our instructors are also happy to recommend materials suited to your experience and goals.

Feel free to bring examples of past work if you have any, it will help the instructor get to know your work quicker but is not required.

Class Description

The development of artistic and visual skills can be an enormously rewarding process for people of any age and capacity. Creating art can become an exciting and empowering journey that motivates you to achieve things that you didn’t think possible.

Even if you’ve been painting and drawing for years, Locust Street Art has something to offer you.

You’ll become a part of a larger community of artists who strive to challenge and encourage each other every day to fulfill their potential. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop a relationship with one of our skilled instructors, who will act as a mentor and a guide on the journey to accomplish your artistic goals, no matter what they might be. If you’re interested in pursuing a career in art, working with our instructors is a fantastic way to build a portfolio and gain insight into the art school application process. And if you’re simply someone who is interested in drawing and painting, creating art Locust Street is a great way to spend your evenings socializing, meeting new people, and having fun. Our free art class at Locust Street Art is an incredible opportunity for you to develop as an artist, and as a person.

Our instruction is totally based on the individual, which means you’ll be generating your own ideas and bringing them to life under the guidance of one of our talented instructors. Unlike other art classes, you’ll be free to work at your own pace towards goals that you’ve established for yourself.

We’ll teach you the foundations of painting and drawing, from the essentials of color creation and composition to the development of an appreciation for art that will last a lifetime. Along with helping you to fulfill your potential as an artist, learning to draw and paint develops your critical thinking skills and visual awareness, as well as serving as a great way to center yourself and de-stress. And if you’re considering applying to art school, our drawing and painting classes will help you develop an artistic process, consistently create art, and develop a portfolio under the guidance of one of our skilled instructors.

As with many of our other programs, Teen/Adult Painting and Drawing is a free art class. Materials are provided, though we always encourage those who can afford to provide their own to do so. You can come as often as you like and we’ll help you to grow as an artist no matter your level of skill and experience. We’re proud to say that many of our regular students have gone on to exhibit their work on the local and national levels. If you’re looking for an opportunity to develop as an artist, and as an individual, our drawing and painting class may for you.
