In 1985 Locust Street Art received the New York State Governor’s Art’s Award.

Locust Street Art was one of only five community art organizations nationwide selected for in-depth study by the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

In 1987, Locust Street Art received the Arts Award from the Arts Council of Buffalo and Erie County.

The Buffalo Urban League presented the organization with a 1998 Award, Doing the Right Thing for Our Children & Community.

Locust Street Art’s art teachers were interviewed for the book and sociological study, The Unknown City: The Lives of Poor and Working-Class Adults (Fine & Weis, 1999).

Locust Street Art was a semi-finalist for 2007, 2005, 2002 & 1998 Coming Up Taller Awards.

The Western District Parent-Teachers Association honored Locust Street Art with awards in 1999 and in 2012, In Recognition of Dedication & Service to Youth & Community.

Nominated Best Arts Educator in Artvoice’s 2005 Best of Buffalo.

Daemen College Community Partner Appreciation Award 2013, Center for Sustainable Communities and Civic Engagement.
